Aww - is that you? Yep, that's me and those are two of my kittens from my cattery. 

What are all those letters after your name?  I am a Registered Veterinary Technician who has been in veterinary medicine for 30 years. For 20 of those years I dedicated my path to veterinary behavior, becoming a Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner, a Veterinary Technician Speciality in Behavior working with boarded veterinary behaviorist (DACVB's) in Columbus and Cleveland, and then earning my Certified Veterinary Practice Manager credential becoming the first CVPM in a behavior specialty practice. 

That's all cool, but how does that help me and my pet?  My education and all those crazy letters mean I can do more than just train your pet. When you have questions about a pet's medications for vet visits, how to explain to your veterinarian what is going on at home, if you're not sure if your cat is peeing on the floor because they are being bullied or if they have a UTI - that's me. I can pull from my medical training, my specialty veterinary behavior education, and trainer skills to work through what we're seeing. 

Is this why my vet said to call you?  YES. All those letters let vets know that I have specialized education to work with pets experiencing behavior problems in addition to my animal training skills. They want to be certain you get help. Unfortunately, animal training is an unregulated industry - this means anyone can decide to be an animal trainer with little or no actual experience or education. All those letters - I had to take exams that evaluated my brain knowledge AND my actual training skills to get them. 

How do you train?  I'm a positive reinforcement trainer, expect me to ask you to have treats or your pet’s favorite toys available for our sessions. We will utilize a marker (clicker) as a communication tool which will help speed up the training process. Don’t worry! I’ll demonstrate everything and answer all your questions when I see you and your pet!

And you're in Wooster?  Correct. I am a Northwestern girl married to a Triway boy! But don't worry if you're not in Wooster - I travel all over NE Ohio and offer VIRTUAL care as well.
